Could you be a volunteer?

Cigarette smoking is still the main cause of preventable illness and death in England and accounts for around 82,700 deaths each year in the UK1.

 - 8,300 deaths (22 deaths per day) result from smoking in the East of England. 1     Statistics on Smoking: England, 2008. The Information Centre for Health and Social Care, 2008.

As a volunteer, you will be given training to work with people who smoke and learn how to support them to overcome the difficulties associated with giving up an addictive substance and readjusting to a life without tobacco.

You might like to represent Suffolk Stop Smoking Service at promotional events and health fairs, or perhaps assist at clinics in or near to Ipswich or Bury St. Edmunds. Either way your experience will be invaluable for those trying to quit.
